What Mindex runs on, and what it needs from the machine.

Linux	x64, `.AppImage` or `.deb`	AppImage needs no install

What else is required

One assistant CLI, installed and signed in — Claude Code, Codex or Gemini CLI. See Connect an assistant.

Node is not required to run Mindex. It is required to install the assistant CLIs with npm, and to build Mindex from source.

An account. There is none.
An API key. Mindex holds none.
A network connection, to read and write your notes. Only the assistant needs one.
